the short time span of American history

Meet Lyon Gardiner Tyler, Jr. He was born in 1925 and is a retired history professor. Also, his grandfather, John Tyler, was the 10th president.

What?

Yes, John Tyler, born in 1790, personal acquaintance of Thomas Jefferson, has a grandson who is still alive today.

Tyler had 15 children, the 13th of whom, Lyon Tyler, was born in 1853 (when the ex-president was 63). Lyon in turn had Lyon, Jr., at age 72.

Stranger than fiction.
