This week's sign of the apocalypse

The Homeless World Cup. Seems demeaning and kinda offensive. How did they find the players, you ask?

"We went to food lines and soup kitchens and we rolled a soccer ball toward people who looked like they might have accents."

On the other hand, the US team is bankrolled by a homeless advocate, who says this

"dispels the myths that they [the homeless] aren't able-bodied, all they do is lay around rattling the cup and asking for change."

and

"It might be the spark to help them get back into regular mainstream society."

Even better, of 6 of the 8 players on last year's team are homeless no longer. So, maybe my title is a bit harsh.
