I've been meaning to post some of these pictures for a while, so here's a mish-mash:
The robin that set up a nest on our back porch, with its offspring. Baby birds are cute in theory, but in reality they're pretty damn weird looking.

Grass fires in the hills above South San Francisco. The neighbors were ready to evacuate (seriously, the packed up all their cars), but the Fire Department put it out in the middle of the night. This was part of the 600+ fires in Northern CA while we were visiting.
