Blagojevich

The Illinois house today voted to impeach "alleged politician and lego hair model" Rod Blagojevich (that's Colbert's description of him).

Good. But why couldn't they do this before he had a chance to appoint Roland Burris? Nothing against Burris personally, but wouldn't it have been better to avoid that whole situation?

The Illinois senate still has to vote to convict, but since the house vote was 114-1, I can't imagine the outcome being any different in the upper chamber. And which idiot voted against impeachment? Are they not planning on running for re-election?
