Sunday Oct. 21st was just about a perfect day for a Bostonian. First of all, it was about 73 degrees, not a cloud in sight, with just a little breeze. Had a leisurely morning, and then watched the Patriots absolutely destroy the Miami Dolphins in the first half of their game (42-7 at halftime). The title quote above is from Zach Johnson, the Dolphins middle linebacker, describing the Pats' play.
Then, viv and i did an easy run down to the charles river, and hung out for the next couple hours in the sun, watching the Head of the Charles Regatta. It wasn't the most exciting sport to watch in person because since the river is so narrow, they release the boats at 15 second intervals. They race against the clock, rather than head-to-head, so without the benefit of giant clocks or something similar, it was hard to tell who was winning. Plus, we were still about a mile from the finish-line. That said, it's a beautiful scene as the boats come around the bend, under the Weeks bridge, with all 8 oars perfectly synchronized. And, it's great watching the faces of the coxwains as they scream at their teammates.
So, how does one wrap up a perfect day in Boston? How else:

p.s. - does this mean I'm now officially a bostonian? I won't be ditching the Oak any time soon, but hey, ride the bandwagon while it's rolling, eh?

Yeaaahhh!!!
You picked the best spot to watch the Head. The Weeks Bridge is the key to the whole race, and visiting coxswains often don't realize how extreme the turn to port is.

Just to clarify, that's a "Yeaaahhh!!!" for the Sox, a "Wow" for the Pats, and an "Aaaargh" for the Dolphins guy who tore his ACL in the first half...
eh, what would you know about tearing ACLs? Oh, right...
